(i) To learn and teach Arabic for Communication.

(ii) To provide the beneficiaries with enough knowledge on teaching Arabic language in secondary schools.

(v) To prepare the beneficiaries for absorption into the labour market.

(vi) To provide the beneficiaries with translation mechanism.

Diploma 1 First Semester

Introduction

The Diploma in Christian Religious Education is designed to be a professional course meant to introduce students who wish to be professional Christian Educators. The programme is a training of potential Christian education teachers in primary and junior secondary schools.

The course will involve taught courses and hands-on practical training.

(a) Atleast not less than five papers at credit Level.

(b) Five credits including English Language and CRS, in SSCE/GCE/NECO.

Diploma 1 First Semester

Introduction

The Programme has as its main objective the production of manpower with skills in Hausa Language Education. And also to:

a. To expose student teachers to the main linguistics literary and cultural components of Hausa.

b. To equip student’s teachers with up-to-date methodologies in teaching Hausa languages, literature and culture in the junior and secondary classes.

c. To train the students teachers in teaching Hausa as a first language.

d. To train the students teachers in teaching Hausa as a second Language.

e. To provide the required man-power of professionally trained Hausa teachers of N.C.E. equivalence.

f. To enhance the student teacher’s opportunity to further their education in Hausa studies.

The course will involve taught courses and hands-on practical training.

Admission Requirement:

A minimum of four credits two of which must include Hausa and English language.

(a) WASC, SSCE, GCE, NECO, O Level with at least 4 credits two of which must include Hausa and English languages. Or

(b) TC II certificate with credit and or merit passes on at least four subjects which include Hausa and English Languages. Or

(c) Senior Islamic studies (SIS) certificate with four credits two of which must include Hausa and English language.

Introduction

The Programme has as its main objective the production of manpower with skills in English Language Education, and to be able to understand the concept and nature of oral literature,grammar, phonetics and phonology such as sounds of English and speech mechanism. Students are provided with necessary listening skills that they need to function effectively in all academic activities.

The course will involve taught courses and hands-on practical training.

(a) A minimum of five O Level credits passess to include English language.

Introduction

The Programme has as its main objective the production of manpower with skills in Library and Information Sciences. And also to guide, instruct and develop intermediate staff by inculcating in them the intermediate skills necessary for the effective and efficient running of a library.

The course will involve taught courses and hands-on practical training.

To be considered for admission into the course, the applicant must satisfy the following requirements:

Minimum of four (4) credits at O’level including English and at least a pass in Mathematics.

a. Four credit passes at SSCE/GCE O’level including English and a minimum of pass in Mathematics obtained at not more than two sittings.

b. Grade II Teachers’ Certificate with at least Merit passes in four subjects including English and a minimum of pass in Mathematics/ Arithmetic.

Diploma 1 First Semester

Introduction

The Programme has as its main objective the production of manpower with skills in Physical and Health Education.

i. To equip the students with the basic knowledge of Physical and Health Education and Sports so as to qualify them for direct entry into degree programme in Physical and Health Education in Nigerian Universities and abroad.

ii. To provide access to higher education and teaching qualifications for those who wish to teach in the states.

iii. To equip the students with the technical knowledge and know how to become effective games masters, Physical and Health education teachers, Health science teachers and Sports organizers.

iv. To enable the Physical and Health Education unit identify and recruit top rate athletes for further training for inter and intra University sports competitions as well as those who will represent Nigeria in National and International sports competitions.

v. To keep the students for skill performance level.

The senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) in relevant science areas including` English, for admission into the two (2) years Diploma programme or 5 credits in G.C.E./SSCE O’ Level including English, Mathematics and any one Science subject preferably Biology, Health Science or Physical education/Health education, Chemistry, or Agriculture

b.‘O’ Level credit passes in other subjects at not more than two (2) sittings.

Diploma 1 First Semester

Introduction

The Programme has as its main objective the production of manpower with skills in Mathematics Education. To also

(a)To train and produce Mathematics teachers with sufficient knowledge and professional competence to teach primary schools and Junior Secondary School (JSS) Mathematics.

(b) To make the teachers of Mathematics to be creative and resourceful in their teaching by applying new teaching pedagogical techniques in the classroom.

(c) To enable teachers meet up to the challenges in Modem Mathematics Education development.

(d) To provide qualified students for the degree program in Mathematics Education at two hundred level (200 levels).

The course will involve taught courses and hands-on practical training.

Introduction

The Programme has as its main objective the production of manpower with skills in Islamic Language Education.To also produce teachers with adequate knowledge in Arabic and Islamic Studies with professional competence to teach Islamic Studies at Primary and Basic Education Levels (JSS 1-3).

1. To produce Diploma graduates with adequate knowledge in Islamic Studies with Professional competence for employment in any Educational, Institution/Organization at local state and federal levels.

2. To produce Diploma graduates in Da’wah activities so as to promote peaceful co-existence between Muslim and non-Muslims.

3. To produce Diploma graduate who are capable of handling matters to Islamic Legal System according to the teachings of the prophet (SAW), not according to deviates opinions e.g. Boko Haram.

i) The Programme has as its main objective the production of manpower with skills in Physics Education.Have basic knowledge of the organizational concepts and techniques in practical physics and laboratory management.

ii) Be aware of the fact that the fundamental ideas of physics evolved from a process of inquiry, which will enable them to develop scientific attitudes which are transferable to other life situations.

iii) Plan and effectively execute Physics-based lessons in B1-B9 classes in accordance with the UBE policy.

iv) Have sound basic knowledge of the Physics concepts and principles to equip them for further studies in Physics and Physics- related courses.

v) Explain the nature of science.

a) To acquire adequate breadth and depth of knowledge in Higher Diploma in Mathematics Education.

b) To train and produce mathematics teachers with sufficient knowledge and Professional competence to teach both Junior Secondary (JSS) and Senior Secondary (SSS) mathematics.

c) To inculcate competence in practical classroom teaching and management in Mathematics.

d) To make the teachers of Mathematics to be creative and resourceful in their teaching by applying new teaching techniques in the classroom.

e) To enable mathematics teachers meet up to the challenges in modern world.

f) To provide qualified candidates for the degree program in Mathematics Education at three hundred level (300 level).

The course will involve taught courses and hands-on practical training.

Admission Requirement

To be considered for admission into the course, the applicant must satisfy the following requirements:

Five O’Level credits to include Mathematics and English Language in addition to.

1. Diploma in Mathematics Education (DME) with one year Post qualification teaching experience.

2. IJMB or GCE A-Level attempted with at least an E in Mathematics (Special Mathematics in the case of IJMB).

3. NCE holders with at least a pass in Mathematics.

4. In addition to a credit pass in 5 “O” level subjects which include Mathematics and English.

Higher Diploma First Semester
